Recognition of Prior Learning

In appropriate cases, Deanmac will credit students, who believe they have achieved the required outcomes of a course, or module, subject to their claim being substantiated with evidence of prior learning or training.

The evidence required to prove prior learning may include:

  • Direct evidence of training, provided by means of a certified copy of a certificate of attainment or qualification issued by a Registered Training Organization.
  • Indirect evidence where the student cannot produce direct evidence of prior learning. This will require written evidence, demonstrating how the assessment criteria have been met, or the application for a challenge test.

A fee may be applied for assessment or recognition of prior learning.

Fees and Charges

All fees relating to the delivery of courses will be invoiced to the student or client on completion of delivery of the course or module.

Cancellation and Refunds

If you wish to postpone your attendance to a later course, or wish to substitute another person, notification must be received at least eleven working days prior to the commencement of the course.

Cancellation within ten working days will incur a cancellation fee of 50% of the course fee. The full fee will be charged if cancellation is received less than 2 working days prior to the course commencement.

Complaints and Appeals

Deanmac has an established process for the hearing and resolution of complaints, or appeals for re-assessment by students. When a complaint has been notified, all circumstances of the complaint will be investigated and reviewed. If a student believes that the assessment process was not conducted in a fair and equitable manner, the student may appeal and request re-assessment as provided for within the company’s procedures.

Privacy Policy

Deanmac Emergency Services is bound by the National Privacy Principles, under the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector Act) 2000.

Any personal information disclosed by you will only be used for the purpose of identification, and confirming your participation in, and recording of, your participation in training. This information may be conveyed to the Australian Vocational Education and Training Management Information Statistical Standard (AVETMISS), as required under the AQTF Standards 2001.

If applicable, financial information disclosed by you will only be used for the transaction to which it relates. No personal details will be provided to any other individual or organization, and access to this information is restricted to the company’s training administration staff.

Access and Equity

Deanmac Emergency Services is committed to the provision of access and equity to all personnel receiving, or presenting training and other services.

Equal Opportunity

Deanmac recognises the rights of individuals and groups to be free from discrimination and harassment on the grounds of sex, marital status, pregnancy, sexuality, race, disability and political or religious beliefs.

All students will be enrolled in an ethical and responsible manner, consistent with the requirements of the curriculum, or training course to be presented.

The company will ensure that participant’s selection complies with equal opportunity and equity and diversity policies and legislation.

All staff shall take reasonable steps to identify and eliminate unlawful discrimination (direct, indirect and systemic) from its facilities and practices in order to promote equality of opportunity for all staff and students.

Flexible Learning and Assessment

Deanmac recognises that students may have individual needs in the methodology of learning and assessment. In each case where a student has requested an alternative method of learning and/or assessment, an agreed method of delivery will be established, in consultation with the student and Deanmac Emergency Services.

Language, Literacy and Numeracy Policy

On commencement of all training, a basic Language, Literacy and Numeracy assessment will be undertaken, for the purpose of identifying special needs of the individual.

Where necessary adjustments will be made to the delivery and assessment methodologies, to suit the needs of the individual.

Student Individual Needs

Deanmac will make every reasonable effort to make provision for language, literacy and numeracy assessments for individual students, should the need arise.

Induction & Orientation

On commencement of all training programs, a prescribed process of induction will be implemented in accordance with established Deanmac procedures.

Welfare and Guidance Services

Deanmac will assist students in accessing guidance, where an issue of student welfare requires a service outside the scope provided by the company.

Discipline

A clear and effective discipline policy is fundamental in achieving efficiency, safety and sound student/trainer relations. Disciplinary actions are only necessary where the initial counselling of a student/trainer has been unsuccessful. Any disciplinary actions will be implemented in accordance with established Deanmac procedures.

Further details on all Deanmac Emergency Services Policies and Procedures can be obtained by contacting the company.
